Ogun State Chapter - The Gateway Chapter
The birth of The Nigerian Institute of Building, Ogun State Chapter came by the agreement of members of the Institute to have a constitution in order to guide the activities and conducts of the Institute and members. The Chapter came up in accordance with Article 18 of the Institute’s constitution.
In 1990, some Builders at the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro formed the chapter with Bldr. (Rev) David A. Anibaba as the first Chapter Chairman. The Department of Building Technology of the Polytechnic served as the first official Secretariat of the Chapter. This continued until 1994 when Bldr. Gilbert O. Banjo became the Chapter’s Chairman and moved the secretariat to the state capital.
The Building Department of the state Ministry of Works served as the Secretariat for a while. A rented office at Quarry road, Ibara, Abeokuta was also used as the Secretariat for another period of time.
This continued until 2011 when the Chapter secured a place within the Superintending Engineer’s yard, Ministry of Works, Quarry Road, Abeokuta.
This is where a well-equipped structure was constructed. This serves as the Chapter’s Secretariat till date.
